What is hypnosis?
In hypnosis two important things happen.
Firstly, the brain frequencies slow down to a rate that they were running at when you were between the ages of zero and six years of age. When the frequencies are running at this slower rate it optimises learning which means that new information can be absorbed more quickly and easily.
Secondly, the filter that analyses all that you hear and see is dampened down. Hypnotherapists refer to this filter as the Conscious Critical Factor (CCF). When the CCF is reduced you are more likely to accept, without question, new more desirable thoughts, feelings and information . It helps things feel easier to achieve and this makes the desired outcome of therapy more likely.
What is hypnosis like?
Often people mistakenly believe that in hypnosis one is rendered out of control. The experience itself just simply feels like an altered focus of attention. You are still very much in control and aware of your surroundings and you are not unconscious. Everyone is different but most people report feeling very, very relaxed and comfortable and may find their mind just wondering, and this is a good thing. You just allow your mind to go where ever it wants to and this is the Conscious Critical Factor is dampening down. There is essentially no right or wrong way to feel. Many people will report seeing wonderful images or experience pleasant, comfortable sensations.
How many sessions will I need?
The aim is to bring about the changes you desire as quickly as possible.
Understandably such an investment in your future health requires careful consideration and commitment. Everybody is different and each case needs to be assessed individually. As a general rule of thumb, for general hypnotherapy sessions e.g. simple phobias, exam stress, confidence etc, it is wise to budget for between 4 and 8 sessions. More complex issues may take longer and occasionally long term work may be required.
How much does the therapy cost – see the section below for smoking cessation.
The initial meeting – I offer all clients a free 20 minute discussion. This is an opportunity to for us to meet. You can tell me about your ‘issue’ and decide if you feel comfortable to work with me. It’s also an opportunity for me to tell you how I work and consider how best to help.
If we decide to work together we then make an appointment and this requires a non-refundable booking fee of £20 to secure the room booking. This sum can be redeemed against your final session but cannot be refunded if you miss an appointment (for whatever reason) or fail to give less than 48 hours notice to cancel.
Each subsequent (50 minute to one hour) session, (with the exception of Smoking Cessation), costs £50.
Smoking Cessation is in two parts and consists of:
- 1 free half hour assessment session, this is so that I can assess your readiness to stop and to gain an understanding of your associated links with smoking. This helps me to prepare the next part which is the session itself.
- If we both agree that you are completely ready to stop smoking, at the end of the free half hour you pay a non-refundable booking fee of £50 which is redeemable against the full cost of the £200 for your the smoking cessation session. An appointment date is then arranged.
– The smoking cessation session lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. The outstanding payment of £150 is due at the beginning of the session.
How do I pay?
Cash is the preferred method of payment, although credit or debit cards VISA, Mastercard and Maestro are acceptable or cheque .
What happens if I can’t keep my appointment.
48 hours notice is required to cancel a session and this is because the consulting room has to be paid for and booked in advance of our sessions. Also late cancellations result in a lost opportunity for me to see other clients. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, failure to cancel or rearrange your appointment within the time scale results in a fee for the full amount of the session.
